With El Niño and the heat index hitting 43 decrees Celsius lately, it cannot be hotter and drier in these parts.
These bougainvillea plants by the roadside are not complaining though — on the contrary, they look happy. After all, they bloom fullest under the full sun in the dry season.
They are so happy they are climbing up the nearby tree. I’m not sure if it’s a golden shower or a narra (Philippine mahogany) tree — it has yellow flowers.
The mingling with the red bougainvillea makes it look like a tree with red and yellow flowers.
Red and yellow against the blue of the sky.
These are the colors of our summer — to enjoy by simply heeding the speed sign — slow down, maybe even stop for a while.
Thanks for these images. Bougainvillea always make me so happy.

Bougainvillea are common in Arizona, and we enjoy their blossoms every winter when we visit. I wish we could have them in North Dakota, but they would never survive the winters.

They are frost sensitive, I believe. Blooms in the winter is a good reason to visit.

It can go still higher. 🥵 Fortunately it could start raining in late May to cool it down — unless El Niño pushes it back!

The bougainvillea is certainly amazing. Blooms in no time and stays in bloom for so many days.
Thank you for sharing this with my challenge 🙂
