Buff-banded Rail
The Tikling bird (buff-banded rail) is the inspiration for a local dance called “Tinikling,” which literally means to dance like the Tikling.
The dance involves deftly hopping in and out while avoiding your feet getting caught by bamboo poles opening and closing to rondalla music. It can make for quite an aerobic exercise, and requires eye-foot coordination, not to mention a sense of rhythm.
I sighted this bird crossing the cart path of the golf course. I wondered how a bird this size (like a chicken) can be that deft.
But indeed it is quick on its feet and can maneuver grass, tree branches and quickly disappear.
Anyway, a bird crossing your path on the golf course must be a good sign. I made birdie on that hole. 😊
It has to be quick to avoid getting hit by those golf balls but you must have been even quicker to click. Nicely done!
