The Lens-artists challenge this week is to get closer to the subject.
I saw this pile of dry leaves amidst new shoots and liked the contrast.
I found it a bit cluttered and the light a little flat. Found another angle and shot a little closer.
The colors are brighter and the light is more alive.
But I wanted another image with a more somber mood.
The subtle play of light and subdued colors are closer to what I was looking for, and this image also has a more abstract quality.
Another shot, with some cropping. It is a simpler interpretation.
There’s really no right or wrong. But getting close and closer gives a different perspective.
This collection is a fascinating example of the beauties (and surprises) of a taking close look!

I agree Nes – there is indeed no right or wrong, as you’ve shown with your images. All of them could stand beautifully on their own.

What an interesting collection, Nes. Each one is so different. The light on the red leaf is so reminiscent of autumn. Lovely.
