The white-throated kingfisher is quite elusive as mentioned in a recent post.
I encountered one again, and it immediately flew into the bamboos. It’s a cluttered shot but this kingfisher’s striking colors are still visible.
Here’s another shot with a closer crop.
It’s seems to be watching, keeping its distance, hiding in plain sight.

What a pretty bird, I’ve never seen this kind before.

It is quite pretty. This particular kingfisher is spread around South and East Asia. Haven’t found it’s way to Australia, I believe.
