The Moon Escaped My Illusions

“One day everything will be well, that is our hope. Everything’s fine today, that is our illusion.”
– Voltaire

What’s the line between illusions and dreams?
Who doesn’t want to live in a dream world?
The moon at night brings sweet fantasies.
In the morning it is too truthful. Uncaring.
It wakes me up from my illusions.

“Illusions commend themselves to us because they save us pain and allow us to enjoy pleasure instead. We must therefore accept it without complaint when they sometimes collide with a bit of reality against which they are dashed to pieces.”
-Sigmund Freud
