Lining Up in Front of Anne Frank’s House

Trapped in a room with war and chaos spreading all around, persecution increasing by the day.

That is not a description of today but the experiences of Anne Frank almost 80 years ago. AnneFrankHouseNLF
“It’s difficult in times like these: ideals, dreams and cherished hopes rise within us, only to be crushed by grim reality. It’s a wonder I haven’t abandoned all my ideals, they seem so absurd and impractical. Yet I cling to them because I still believe, in spite of everything, that people are truly good at heart.”
– Anne Frank

“What is done cannot be undone, but one can prevent it happening again.”
– Anne Frank

“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”
– Anne Frank

Photo taken on a visit to Amsterdam a few years ago.

All I remember is that seeing the room (now a museum) and reading her words brought a tear to my eye. I feel the same way today.

  1. The last quote is profound, isn’t it? Motivates us to action. I never got to Anne Frank’s house or Amsterdam although I have visited other areas of the Netherlands. I would definitely have visited Anne Frank’s house if I was in the city. Something we should all be reminded of from time to time so that it doesn’t ever happen again.
