Former Shin-Kabukiza Theater in Osaka

I was always intrigued by this old building in the Namba area, one of the busiest in Osaka. It looked like an old soul standing against the encroachment of the modern world. Somehow I thought this photo symbolized the tug-of-war between tradition and modernity in Japan.

The same view in 2015.  Alas, it has given way to progress. Change is inevitable, even in Japan.

What will the third picture in the series look like? Perhaps in two years we will find out.

(Here’s the background on the building and its fate. )
